Arsenic
What This Test Measures
Toxic metalloid from water, rice, environment
Conventional vs. Functional Optimal Range
The gap between these ranges is why you feel terrible with "normal" labs. Conventional medicine waits for disease. Functional medicine optimizes for health.
Gabriel's Take
Arsenic is carcinogenic (skin, bladder, lung cancer). Urine arsenic >10 μg/L = elevated exposure. Sources: contaminated water, rice, seafood, and some supplements (algae products such as chlorella and spirulina can carry arsenic). Gabriel recommends reverse osmosis water filtration and limiting rice; chelation is for poisoning and is decided by a clinician.
When This Test Is High
Arsenic toxicity, cancer risk (skin, bladder, lung)
When This Test Is Low
Low body burden
Related Conditions
Cancer (skin, bladder, lung), cardiovascular disease, neuropathy
Recommended Follow-Up
Identify source (water, rice); filter water (reverse osmosis); reduce rice; chelation only for poisoning, decided by a clinician
