Inflammation / Immune
Immunoglobulin G (IgG)
Unit: mg/dLID: I009
What This Test Measures
Most abundant antibody; long-term immunity
Conventional vs. Functional Optimal Range
Conventional "Normal"
700-1600 mg/dLYour doctor says you're "fine" anywhere in this range
Functional Optimal
800-1500 mg/dLThis is where you actually feel great
The gap between these ranges is why you feel terrible with "normal" labs. Conventional medicine waits for disease. Functional medicine optimizes for health.
Gabriel's Take
IgG is the main antibody for long-term immunity. Low IgG (<700) = immunodeficiency → recurrent infections. High IgG (>1600) = chronic infection or autoimmune disease. Should be mid-range (800-1500).
When This Test Is High
Chronic infections, autoimmune disease
When This Test Is Low
Immunodeficiency, recurrent infections
Related Conditions
Immunodeficiency, chronic infections
Recommended Follow-Up
If low, check IgG subclasses; if high, rule out chronic infections, autoimmune disease
