Metabolic

LDL Particle Number (LDL-P)

Unit: nmol/LID: M011

What This Test Measures

Number of LDL particles (NMR or ion mobility test)

Conventional vs. Functional Optimal Range

Conventional "Normal"
<1000 nmol/L
Your doctor says you're "fine" anywhere in this range
Functional Optimal
≤935 nmol/L
This is where you actually feel great

The gap between these ranges is why you feel terrible with "normal" labs. Conventional medicine waits for disease. Functional medicine optimizes for health.

Gabriel's Take

LDL-P is one of the BEST predictors of heart disease, better than LDL cholesterol. Measures particle COUNT, not cholesterol content. Gabriel's optimal: 935 nmol/L or less. Discordance (high LDL-P with normal LDL-C) is common in insulin resistance. Ask for it alongside a basic lipid panel.

When This Test Is High

High cardiovascular risk even with normal LDL-C

When This Test Is Low

Low cardiovascular risk

Related Conditions

Atherosclerosis, heart disease

Recommended Follow-Up

If elevated, check ApoB, inflammation, insulin resistance; optimize metabolically
