Gut Health

Comprehensive Stool Analysis

Unit: variousID: G001

What This Test Measures

Gut microbiome composition, pathogens, parasites, inflammation, digestion

Conventional vs. Functional Optimal Range

Conventional "Normal"
Normal flora, no pathogens various
Your doctor says you're "fine" anywhere in this range
Functional Optimal
Balanced microbiome, no dysbiosis various
This is where you actually feel great

The gap between these ranges is why you feel terrible with "normal" labs. Conventional medicine waits for disease. Functional medicine optimizes for health.

Gabriel's Take

Comprehensive stool testing (GI-MAP, GIMAP, etc.) can show infections (H. pylori, parasites, yeast), markers of inflammation and digestive function, and integrative practitioners use it to guide gut care. Microbiome patterns are harder to read: a 2025 international consensus found too little evidence for any dysbiosis score in a test report and advised testing through a clinician rather than on your own.

When This Test Is High

Dysbiosis, pathogens, SIBO, yeast overgrowth, inflammation

When This Test Is Low

Healthy gut; diverse microbiome

Related Conditions

IBS, IBD, dysbiosis, leaky gut, SIBO

Recommended Follow-Up

Address dysbiosis: probiotics, prebiotics, antimicrobials; heal gut lining
