Georgia Access dates for 2027 coverage
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| November 1, 2026 | Open Enrollment starts for 2027 plans. |
| December 15, 2026 | Last day to enroll for coverage that starts January 1, 2027. |
| January 15, 2027 | Open Enrollment ends. Enroll by this date for coverage that starts February 1, 2027. |
Georgia Access automatically re-enrolls current customers in their plan before Open Enrollment and sends a notice. If your 2026 insurer isn't offering plans in your area for 2027, you need to pick a new plan. Outside Open Enrollment you need a qualifying life event, with 60 or 90 days to enroll depending on the event. See special enrollment periods.
What's different in Georgia: four ways to enroll, and reinsurance
- Georgia Access portal: apply and enroll yourself at georgiaaccess.gov, or call 1-888-687-1503 (TTY 711).
- Certified agent: a licensed agent certified by Georgia Access helps online, by phone or in person. Agents sell plans from the insurers they're appointed with, so ask which insurers' plans they can show you.
- Web broker: private companies certified by Georgia Access that let you shop and enroll online.
- Insurance company: enroll directly in one insurer's plans if you already know the company you want.
- Reinsurance: Georgia has run a reinsurance program since 2022 under a federal Section 1332 waiver, aimed at lowering premiums.
- HSAs: Georgia Access says all Bronze plans are eligible for a health savings account. See high-deductible health plan.
No matter which way you apply, Georgia Access says your eligibility, financial help and costs stay the same. Its financial help page lists only federal tax credits and cost-sharing reductions, and Georgia has no state coverage mandate.
Financial help and the cheapest plans
- Premium tax credits require household income above 100% of the federal poverty level, among other rules. The enhanced federal credits ended December 31, 2025, so help is smaller than before. See premium tax credit.
- Cost-sharing reductions lower deductibles and copays on Silver plans for households from 100% to 250% of the poverty level. See cost-sharing reductions.
- The cheapest plan for your situation depends on your income, age, county and how much care you use. A Silver plan with cost-sharing reductions can cost less overall than a Bronze plan if you qualify. See cheapest health insurance.
Georgia Pathways and the coverage gap
Georgia Pathways to Coverage is a Medicaid program for Georgians ages 19 to 64 with household income up to 100% of the federal poverty level ($15,650 a year for one person, using the 2025 figures the state lists) who don't qualify for other Medicaid and complete at least 80 hours a month of work, school, job training, volunteering or similar activities.
- Changes on January 1, 2027: under federal law the activities are renamed community engagement. A new way to qualify is earning at least $580 a month. Some current options, such as being the parent of a child under 6 or a hospital stay, stop counting as activities and move to the program's exception rules. Current members aren't affected until their 2027 renewal.
- The gap: adults with income under 100% of the poverty level who don't qualify for Pathways or other Medicaid can't get Marketplace tax credits either. Children may qualify for Medicaid or PeachCare for Kids.
- Apply for Pathways through Georgia Gateway or a Division of Family and Children Services office. Georgia Access also routes applicants who may qualify for Medicaid or PeachCare to the state. See Medicaid income limits.
How to enroll, and where Gabriel fits
- Gather your details: everyone in your household, expected 2027 income, current coverage, and your doctors and prescriptions.
- Apply at georgiaaccess.gov, by phone at 1-888-687-1503 (TTY 711), or with a certified agent, web broker, navigator or insurer.
- Compare plans on the premium after any tax credit, the deductible, the out-of-pocket maximum and the network.
- Pick by December 15 for January 1 coverage, then pay the first premium.
Gabriel can quote Marketplace plans for your ZIP code and household, show the price after any tax credit, and open your own application with a licensed agent in most states. You choose the plan and finish the application. Separate from insurance, Gabriel Core is $49 per adult a month (kids under 18 included) with member prices close to cost on lab tests, supplements, prescriptions and bioregulators, plus unlimited virtual urgent care and virtual primary care.
Gabriel is not an insurer. Health insurance quotes and enrollment are handled by Gabriel Labs, Gabriel's separately licensed insurance agency. Gabriel membership is not health insurance, doesn't count as minimum essential coverage, and doesn't replace a health plan's protection against large medical bills.
Common questions
When is open enrollment in Georgia for 2027?
Georgia Access Open Enrollment runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1.
Does Georgia use HealthCare.gov?
No. Since November 1, 2024, Georgians shop and enroll through Georgia Access, the state's own exchange, directly or through certified agents, web brokers and insurers.
What is the cheapest health insurance in Georgia?
It depends on your income, age and county. With income from 100% to 250% of the poverty level, tax credits and cost-sharing reductions can make a Silver plan cost less over a year than a Bronze plan, so compare the total yearly cost, not just the premium.
What is the income limit for Georgia Pathways?
Up to 100% of the federal poverty level, $15,650 a year for one person using the 2025 figures, plus at least 80 hours a month of qualifying activities.
Is Georgia Access the same as Georgia Pathways?
No. Georgia Access is the state's health insurance exchange. Georgia Pathways to Coverage is a Medicaid program run separately.
