How self-pay works
- Get a prescription. Every dose needs one, whether you pay cash or use insurance. Your clinician decides the medicine and the dose.
- Your prescriber sends it to NovoCare Pharmacy. Novo Nordisk also lists pharmacy pickup as an option.
- Watch for a confirmation text, then pay. NovoCare offers free home delivery.
Prices rise as the dose goes up, so the price at your maintenance dose matters more than the starting price.
If you have insurance or Medicare
- Commercial insurance. If your plan covers Ozempic or Wegovy, Novo Nordisk's savings offers can bring the cost to as little as $25 a month, with up to $100 in savings a month. The Ozempic offer lasts up to 48 months.
- Government plans. People on Medicare, Medicaid or other government plans can't use the savings offers.
- Medicare GLP-1 Bridge. From July 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027, eligible Part D members can get Wegovy (pen or pill) for weight management for a $50 copay a month. Part D plans may cover Ozempic for type 2 diabetes. See does Medicare cover GLP-1s.
