Biomagnetic Pair Therapy.

What it is

Biomagnetic pair therapy, also called medical biomagnetism, was developed by Dr. Isaac Goiz Durán in Mexico in the 1980s. Practitioners place pairs of magnets, one positive and one negative, on specific points of the body for about 15 to 30 minutes. The theory is that this rebalances local pH and makes the body less hospitable to bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites, in keeping with a terrain view of health.

People use it for chronic infections, autoimmune conditions, pain and inflammation, often when other care hasn't helped enough. It's painless and non-invasive, and many people find sessions restful.

What happens at a visit

1. A health history and muscle testing to choose points.
2. Pairs of magnets placed on specific points while you rest.
3. Lying comfortably for 15 to 30 minutes.
4. Painless, and most people feel nothing from the magnets.
5. Magnets removed and points rechecked.
6. A series of sessions is usually suggested.

Evidence and safety

Research on biomagnetism is very limited, and support comes mostly from practitioner and patient experience. The idea that magnets shift pH or clear pathogens hasn't been confirmed in clinical studies, and muscle testing results are not a validated diagnostic tool. Static magnets are generally safe, but people with pacemakers or other implanted devices, and anyone pregnant, should check with a clinician first. Use it alongside, never instead of, treatment for an infection or other serious condition.
